The Concerned Citizens Resource Association (CCRA) is the Mesa County community group of the Western Colorado Congress.
CCRA formed in 1988 in response to a proposed hazardous waste incinerator to be located near the Colorado/Utah border. In coordination with other groups from Utah, CCRA successfully blocked the incinerator's construction. In subsequent years, CCRA members have been a watchdog of both the Hanson Incinerator in Grand Junction and the Fruita Refinery which were both spewing toxins into local neighborhoods. Then in 1996, CCRA stopped Conoco from building massive fuel storage tanks in downtown Grand Junction.
In more recent campaigns, CCRA members not only have been working to improve Mesa County's Land Development Code, but also spearheaded WCC's efforts on a statewide growth initiative on the ballot in 2000.
